Exploring Isolation and Connectivity

As my isolation began on March 12, 2020, I began thinking about what this isolation means and how it relates to us as individuals and as a whole. Most of the world is in isolation now, with one common goal. This is a first, in my lifetime, where mostly everybody in the world is working to attain the same outcome. As individuals, we are isolated, but as a whole we are working together. Additionally, I have been observing and considering connectivity. During this time, people are striving to stay connected to each other more than ever. Whether it be virtually, by phone or by other means of communication, people are searching for comfort, strength and a sense of normalcy through connectivity.

In creating this project during my isolation time, I would like to stress that this is not a glorification of this tragedy. I am thankful to have been one of the fortunate to remain healthy up until this point. My heart is heavy for the state of the world, and those who have suffered sickness and losses from this pandemic. I am also truly thankful for and eternally indebted to the essential workers who are keeping our world afloat.
